Both decorative and food plants are cultivated in these seedling beds and of course all by products, such as oxygen, are valuable additions to the Station's closed environment. Healthy and rapid plant growth is guaranteed by the use of chlorophyll-light enhancement columns and intensive nutrient-solution beds.
